Listen for yourself

This page is a practical listening companion to the distortion measurements. For each driver, I recorded a two-tone stimulus under Voltage Drive (VD) and Current Drive (CD), then placed the two tracks side by side so you can A/B quickly.

The test signal uses two tones: 200 Hz and 1 kHz. This makes both harmonic and intermodulation artifacts easier to hear when they are present. The tones were at 106 and 96 dBSPL at the microphone which was place 1 inch from the driver.

Best results: use good headphones or very low-distortion speakers, keep playback level moderate, and switch between VD and CD for the same driver before moving on.
